Hey Guys!!. I wanted to make a recap of my favourites trends of 2016 and some that are on my wish list.
I love love love! From tops to cute dresses, off the shoulder items are great for this season. I have even made a couple of these for myself and I shared it with you guys. Perfect spring/summer item to have in your closet. It’s got the right amount of sexy and cute all rolled into one.
The Denim Mini/Midi skirt
Denim has been major this year, did a whole three look blog post about this. From shirts, dresses and skirts. Go crazy on the denim.
Floral embroidery on shirts, jeans, dresses, jackets and absolutely just about everything is what’s popping for spring/summer. If you’re like me and always gravitate to your “comfort zone” of wearing black take a look at these florals prints and embroidery dresses. Gorgeous!!
There’s a million ways to wear Stripes. Currently trending is the nautical stripes as well as monochrome stripes. I do however think that this trend has been around for a minute now. You can rock this look with dresses, twin sets, shirts as well as t-shirts.
A variety of bomber jackets have hit the scene strong. We started off with the flight/army jackets then moved to the light floral bomber jackets and the embroidered silk Japanese bomber jackets. The Japanese bomber is my favourite.
Pom Poms make something as simple as a white top feel like resort wear, and they can deftly brighten up an LBD that takes itself too seriously. Like most fun things in life, though, there’s a dark side to pom-poms: They’re a bit ….. shall we say ….. easy to overdo. Done subtly, they win.
Sometimes there’s a shoe so easy and cool, it earns a following even bigger than the statement heels or printed pumps we saw on the runway. This season, it’s the mule, and they’re practically everywhere.
My favourite!!! This 90’s throwback accessory can be paired with any look, from swimwear right to your formal look.
The quintessential summer shoe, perfect with an airy summer dress or cut-off shorts.
And last but not least, African prints
Kitenge / Ankara fabric styled pieces has hit the world by storm. This is one trend I hope stays for a very long time. Gone are the outdated dress patterns our mothers used to wear to kitchen parties but in with the modern and chic styles that are being made from Ankara fabric ,from shorts to capes, trench coats, crop tops, blazers and pencil skirts. We are going absolutely crazy over African prints.
