Patience

The second of a four part series dedicated to ANGALIA. This one is called patience. I lack patience. Life will test your faith in God, because ultimately patience with God is faith. I am still working on my patience. Its a virtue I am trying so hard to master. This process of coming up with this collection and opening up the store has really built my character. I am grateful.

Have Patience no matter what the difficulty, no matter how dark the road ahead seems. For Truly, with patience comes victory, and with difficulty, relief follows close behind

Love

Yes!!!! the site is finally up! if you didn’t know, I have started a women’s clothing brand that will be making beautiful proudly produced african garments. This will be the 1st of a four part series I will be blogging apart with regards to the first range of Angalia clothing. I will call this one LOVE. Why you ask? well let me break it down…….it started here. The corny line of having so much passion and yes LOVE for fashion. I was raised by a teacher and a seamstress from the Vaal, a small town south from Johannesburg. Just like most kids I spent most of my time with mom, I loved going fabric shopping with her and felt happiest and most comfortable in a fabric and craft store. I ended up choosing a far more “well paying” “safe” and more “estemeed” career choice, well that’s in the eyes of main stream society. I ended being an accountant. I wont bore you into the details of how miserable corporate SA made me feel but rather let’s get back to the love of my life.
We all know love can make you do some crazy and dumb shit at times, others would even say my; embarking on this journey is crazy. What if it doesn’t work out? they say……..and more often then not I reply back saying, but what if it does???? can you imagine that?
I spent a big chunk of 2015 actually getting to know myself and just trying to be a better version of myself. I made a choice to do more of the things that make me happy. One of the first things I did was to buy a sewing machine. Then the blog followed and now ANGALIA. However the real love story here, was making a decision to surround myself with people (when I say people I actually mean one person in particular) that bring the best in me. There are a lot of people who have contributed and are still contributing to this Journey, but there’s one particular person who made me look at the world and myself in a different way. I dedicate this moment to him. LOVE, where it all began. A big shout out and a gigantic Thank you to Zethu Mashika.

White Shirt and Mom Jeans

White shirts and mom jeans. I wore this combo location scouting the other day. Test shots came out really cool,  So I thought I would share this look with you guys. I have been struggling to get the right fit of mom jeans, ones that are loose enough on the hips and just tight enough on the waist. I am not completely satisfied with these ones, but they will do for now.

Monochrome love

Some days I am full of questions about my existence and what I have contributed and still yet to contribute to this world. Most days I am in awe of God’s work that consistently keeps showing up in my friends and family. Its days like those that keep me inspired to live a life bigger than myself. To constantly imagine dreams bigger than myself. A space of gratitude is a great space to be in!
Initially I was not going to use these snaps for the blog, but they turned out so well that I wanted to share. Plus I am yet to style these flatforms the way I would like, so look out for another blog post featuring these babies. I love love them!!! They are so comfy. I think I have been living in them since I got them.
Anyhow guys! have a great Friday. 🙂

Blossom

Yay!!!!!!! I am so happy for spring. I love this season so so much. It gives me so much hope. Around this time I feel like I can conquer the world. Just the symbol of old leaves falling away and new fresh flowers blossoming, gives me so much inspiration. I am just generally happy around this time. Minus the allergies that come with this season, I really love warm days. So…. as we have seen the craze lately,  off the shoulder tops/ dresses are trending for spring ’16. I love love these tops so much so that I have made myself a couples of these, including the one I am wearing in this post. It took me about 40 minutes to make this top. It was super easy and I like just how dramatic it is. Perfect item for spring/summer season. This is how I styled this top 🙂

Date Night

Found this perfect little dress at H&M the other day, I love this colour. Just perfect for the upcoming Spring season. It’s also a perfect date night dress. You can even pair this dress with some nude/black pumps for your night out. In hindsight this dress was not my ideal length, a little racy for me (personally) . In future I will probably style this dress with some pants. Anyhow……This is how I looked like 🙂

Mad about Denim

Hi Guys!!!! The talk of the town. Denim on denim trend. This is my basic denim edition. I basically went through my closet and picked some of my current favourite denim items. For the denim shirt and jeans look , I picked denim colours that are closest to each other. I was lucky enough to get the same wash of blues. I am a little weary of light washes on me. However I reckon you can play around with this look, switch it up and go for some white, tan, really dark blues and my favorite; black denim! Denim overdose season is in full swing. Go and get your basics. Thanks for stopping by! xo

And so it begins… A N G A L I A

Everyday has felt like women’s day to me lately. Woman’s day commemorates the strong woman who took matters into their own hands and marched to the union buildings to petition against the country’s pass laws, an incredible feat which we today celebrate only on one day. I say it has felt like woman day everyday to me because I have been so inspired, so much so that I have been actively pursuing my dreams. There is nothing more powerful than fearlessly chasing your dreams. I have been so busy working on an dream which I will see come to life in the next couple of weeks, a clothing range for women which will feature beautiful quality garments that will be offered exclusively to my clientele. I have a hand in crafting every single piece and making sure that every item is an investment piece. ANGALIA. Envision. A Swahili term that expresses my vision of beauty. More about this to come.

Today, I am wearing a caftan that I made. I love clothes like most girls, however I love the beauty of self expression more. What I decide to drape my body with should always be beautiful art. This Brand is my life… Hence The Life I Wear.

Look out for Angalia, We will be launching soon. Cheers!! xoxo

Thigh-High Loving

Yes!!!!! Thigh-High boots. I got these babies at Cotton On about a week ago. I was ecstatic!!! I had been searching for these boots for quite some time. In my head I have styled these boots with so many looks. It makes my heart so happy :). So brace yourself these will be making a come back pretty soon. The perfect transitional wardrobe item, as these will seamlessly take you from this chilly season and right into those warmer days that all of us are anxiously anticipating. Depending on how conservative your workplace is, this look is an easy-going yet very strong look for work. This look can also easily transition from day to night. I would never use the word “sexy” to describe myself, but when I am in these boots my inner sexy vixen just comes charging out. I Love them!!

Equilibrium

“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits. The rebels. The trouble makers. The round heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules and the have no respect for the status quo.You can quote them, disagree with, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things, they push the human race forward and while some may see them as the crazy ones. We see Genius because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who actually do” – Jack Kerouac.

This has been on my mind this past week. What a depressing week. I needed my anger and sadness to sink in. #Blacklivesmatter. How does one even make sense of this?? besides writing how we feel about this on social media and having hashtags for the victims, what can we possibly do to stop this? The truth of the matter is, this is not new. The cameras are new. Even with that said, the perpetrators are still walking scout free. What infuriates me is how silenced we are by some white people. So for every protest you make, (eg. like now) you take the risk to be branded anti-white, when you are not even  behind the offense that lead you to protest in the first place,  but are a victim. So you decide to keep quiet and it just chows you up inside. As far as I understand it, this movement is not a divisive movement. We established that we as a human race are equal yet some people, some political, some judicial, cultural and social systems still don’t comprehend that. Lets all just check our privileges and work towards obtaining this equality.

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” ………………” Racism is no mere American phenomenon, Its vicious grasp knows no geographical boundaries. In fact, racism and its perennially economic exploitation, provide the key to understanding most of the international complications of this generation. ” – Dr. Martin Luther King

Anyhow  ……… I got these really cool pants and shoes from 32 Clothing at a bargain. You know I am all about that bargain life. My friend and I had been looking for the nearest 32 clothing store until we finally found one at Southgate Mall. 32 Clothing has all your favourite brands all under one roof. These pants are H&M and the shoes Asos.
